Hello, girls. It's Saturday.

What better time to write a blog then a quarter to 1 on Saturday morning?
I certainly can't think of one.
And now, on to introductions.
Hello, dears. I'm the other Melissa. I'm 16 years old and I'm from central Florida, in scenic "Shark Bite Capital of the World." I'm probably the poorest example of a Floridian you may ever encounter. 1, I'm not elderly or retired; 2, I don't much like orange juice; 3, I don't like to swim in the ocean. I actually can't, as weird as that is. I tend to swim like a rock when there are currents involved. Pools are nice, though... *ahem* Onward.
I, like Karen, am interested in photography, painting, and drawing. However I don't have any fancy links to anything as of yet, but maybe later. I'm also quite a theatre nerd, but this was actually a more recent discovery thanks to taking drama last year. Upon entering this year as a junior, I will be a full-fledged drama geek, instead of having to juggle drama with band, which, let's be honest here, can't be done. Plus I enjoy it more and can see myself wanting to make a career out of it, so it just makes sense to me. If only my band director would stop guilt tripping me over it... But I digress.
I'm pretty addicted to the internet. Namely YouTube and MySpace, and of course the Ning. I've been getting into vlogging on my YouTube channel, and I have a whopping 3 subscribers (5 if you want to be technical, but 2 of them are suspended accounts.) I have a few AMVs, too.
Ummm... what else... Well, I've been trying to learn guitar, since my dad plays in a band and he gave me his Danelectro for my birthday a few years ago, and my mom got a Daisy Rock off of eBay when she wanted to learn but decided it was to hard, so I've been using that to practice. So far I have A minor and E minor pretty well under my belt. So, yay me. Hah.
Some favorite bands of mine are System of a Down (wahh they broke up Dx ), Serj Tankian, Scars on Broadway (SOAD came back, only as separate musical groups. HAHA!<3), style="font-weight: bold;">Who are your heroes?
This is a tough one... I'd have to say my dad, because of everything he's done for me and just everything he's done in general. And my boyfriend, who's leaving for boot camp soon to be a marine. He's one of the greatest people I know, he's a real intellectual and I really look up to him. He's one of my best friends.
What are your favorite shoes to wear? This would be a tie between a pair of flip-flops that have this tatami mat thing going on on the bottom and cherry blossom print that I wear with everything in the summer, and these black and white converse that I doodle upon and knighted "The Gay Pride Converse." They're beautiful.
>Photobucket
What is your favorite book? I have a few. I'd have to go with the Harry Potter Series by JK Rowling, Hitchhiker's Guide series by Douglas Adams, Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket, and The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold, off the top of my head.
Random things I love/love to do? Oh, wow. Well, I love going to anime conventions, and I make it a point to purchase a bottle of a flavor of Ramune that I haven't tried yet. I collect the bottles... And I collect memories. It sounds weird, the way I put it. But basically I never throw away a note, a doodle, a strange trinket, etc. that was given to me by a friend or something if there's a memory or something behind it. For example, I have a pine cone sitting on my bookshelf. And a bright yellow cardboard seahorse taped to my wall. I could go on, I have a few random obsessions.
Favorite TV show? I would say Friends, That 70s Show, The Simpsons, Family Guy, and Whose Line is it Anyway? and Cash Cab. I don't watch a whole lot of TV, though, but when I do, it's usually one of those. Or else stand-up comedy.
How would you describe your style? Oh, how many times I've asked myself this question. I'm definitely a mish-mash of sorts. Basically, however I'm feeling at the time. Jeans, Tripps, band shirts, screen tees, novelty tees, I tend to like anything with a Japanese flair. I'm kind of like someone took goth, punk, scene, indie, and a few nerdy quotes and jokes and tossed it like fashion salad.
Day person or night person? Night person, definitely. It is, after all, 1:30 in the morning.
Coffee or Tea? I'm picky about my coffee, so I'll go with tea. If my coffee tastes like coffee, I won't like it. Strange, I know.
What is your favorite cheese? White American, from the Publix deli.
What is the last thing you bought? A Frozen Flagler Latte from the coffee house on the beach near where I live, where I am currently trying to get a job. I love the place, and the Flagler Latte is the best thing to happen to coffee.

Well, that's all I have for the moment. I'm so excited that this project is up and off the ground! I'm eager to get to know all of you. =]
The end.

(My, this was long X_X)
[EDIT: Ignore the time thingy, I posted at 1:30ish am, not 11:whatever. lol]

Friday is Mine

I'm actually ill so I probably won't write a lot x_o I haven't actually spoken to any of you apart from Melissa, so hai, and here's the basics first. I'm Karen, I live in London (I think I'm the only one living outside the States), I'm fourteen on 7th September, I'm learning to speak Spanish, French, German and write Latin (Speaking it would be a bit inane and hard). I've played the Violin for five years and can play some piano and guitar. I listen to music like Explosions in the Sky, Mogwai and Eisley. Eventhough this is miles into the future, I want to either read Maths or Graphic Design (and then go into advertising) in University. I'm starting a new school in September. Like Tyler, I don't do drugs, drink or smoke (not only because of legal reasons - drugs are unnatural, alcohol smells and smoking is, quite frankly, self-harming).

Because this blog post is utterly boring (partly due to the fact I have to stop every five seconds to blow my nose), here's some interesting things about myself (by the way, I couldn't really think of what to post in the introduction, so it's sort of a hybrid of stuff from all of your posts x_x).

My favourite cheese is Leicester. I'm thinking of changing my name to Natalie (apparently I suit one). I do various forms of art - Grade V Speech and Drama, photography, painting, drawing etc. The last thing I bought was a candy cane. I collect quotes. My recently found favourite is "Life loves to be taken by the lapel and be told: 'I am with you, kid. Let's go." (Maya Angelou).

I'm really rubbish at writing this, so I'll try add in what I did recently (eventhough this post is already like a bagillion pages long).

I have on my table a pot of Lucky Charms cereal. To you all, that's really normal, because you probably see the cereal box every time you go into Safeway or something. But Lucky Charms are [apparently] banned in the UK due to crazy amounts of sugar or E numbers, so seeing a packet in the UK is amazing (so if you move to the UK, smuggle in hoards and sell them). The thing is, is that it's really expensive to buy. A cardboard packet is £6 (around $12) which is a total rip off. So I got this little pot for £1.50 ($3), which yeah, is still pretty nasty. But anyway. From my pot, I learnt that Lucky Charms are delicious, no matter how unhealthy they are. And also, I didn't know that the coloured bits aren't marshmallows. They're really hard! It is appauling that they cost so much here.

So yeah. That's my blog post. Questions below.

Tyler's Questions
1. Hero? - I have lots of heroes. I think the people we see on the bus, on the streets can be heroic. So to answer your question, not one in particular; I have many.

2. Favourite shoe - I use to have these red shiny shoes when I was younger. They were a bit like children Mary Jane's, only shiny. But my favourite shoes are my black converses. (Too be honest, I only have four pairs of shoes so yeah, haha. I'm not one for fashion).

3. Favourite Book - Like heroes, I have many favourite books. The latest book I [re]read was Meg Rosoff's 'Just In Case'. But other favourites include Sarah Dessen's 'Just Listen', Siobhan Dowd's 'A Swift Pure Cry', 'Hannah's Gift' by Maria Housden, To Kill A Mockingbird (Harper Lee), Looking for Alaska, Charlie and Lola books, and the Jolly Postman pop-up books. I read a whole range.

4. Random thing I like to do - I really like to swing in the park.

Chelsea's Questions
1. Favourite TV shows - House (next series is next year x_x), Scrubs, Friends, The League of Gentlemen, The Mighty Boosh, The IT Crowd and A Bit of Fry and Laurie. I also like a lot of comedy quiz shows like QI, Nevermind the Buzzcocks, Mock the Week, The Big Fat Quiz of the Year, etc etc.

2. Style - Simplistic but nice?

3. Night person. I suffer from acute insomnia x_o

4. Tea, though I do love the smell of coffee.

And now, I have questions for youu.

1. What is your favourite cheese?
2. What's the last thing you bought?

[Edit: Haha. I don't know what I did but the font size has screwed up. I'm sorry xD;; I don't know what I did!]

Thursday, July 31, 2008

It can't be Thursday! Its too gruesome!

A special present if you get the reference.

Not that Thursday is gruesome, however. I'm actually INCREDIBLY excited that its here! All of...one minute ago.

Yes yes, I may have been waiting for the clock to hit midnight just so I could post this blog. I'm anxious, okay? Sheesh.

Plus, I have to work all day tomorrow, so I figured I'd go ahead and post now instead of tomorrow night when I'm dead from working at a shoe store over tax-free weekend. Who came up with tax-free weekend anyways? You don't actually save any money, because stores just take all the sales off. POINTLESS.

Sorry. I guess I should introduce myself.

Hello kids (and I can actually say that somewhat accurately, since I'm pretty certain I'm older than all of you! ha!), I'm Chelsea. Sometimes referred to as Chels, The Chels, Freckles, Red, or the Turner Classic Nerdfighter. Pick your favorite.
I'm 20 years old, and about to begin my junior year at Berry College in three weeks that are bound to pass entirely too slowly. I'm a theatre major with a business minor (so I can maybe actually get a decent paying job when I graduate). If you know anything about theatre kids, that'll tell you a lot about me. But be not afraid! We're not a crazy as you might think.

No, that's a lie. We are. But you'll learn to love it, I promise.

Anyways, god...there are so many things that I love. Of course I love theatre, but the only thing I would choose over being an actress is being a jazz singer. I ADORE jazz, and its my preferred style of music to sing. But I love pretty much ALL music except country, rap in the Souljda Boy genre, and whateveritis genre that Hannah Montana and Hillary Duff and such people fit into.

I love anything vintage, especially old movies. (Note: Turner Classic NF.) I'd give you a list, but it would take all night. I'll spare you. I like to say I'm a movie buff, but I know people who really are, and I've got nothing on them. But I've seen a helluva lot of movies.

Maybe I should stop rambling and answer the questions already.

1. Who are your heroes?
There's a slew of old actors/actresses that I think were phenomenal, but again, I'll spare you. My favorite jazz singer is probably Billie Holiday. I pick her over Ella just because her voice is so much more distinctive.
And my parents, as cliche as that is.
2. What's your favorite pair of shoes to wear?
Ooh. Don't get me started on shoes. Its an addiction. Probably these:

Although that's not a great picture. Doesn't do them justice.
3. What's your favorite book?
Oh, there's a list. A selection:
The Great Gatsby. The Picture of Dorian Gray. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. The Notebook. Harry Potter. Twilight. The Giver. The Guardian. The Tenth Circle. Pride and Prejudice. Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim. Looking For Alaska. An Abundance of Katherines. Persuasion. The Scarlet Letter. To Kill A Mockingbird. The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
4. Name something really random that you love/love to do.
I have a tendency to doodle. I doodle on everything. Sometimes its elaborate, sometimes its song lyrics, sometimes its just lots of stars. I like to draw, and never really thought I was that great at it. But I just took a costume design class and really enjoyed it. And I got quite a few compliments. So yeah.
I'm also randomly into marketing/advertising, specifically fashion marketing. So yeah. Business minor. Ha.

Okay. This has been exceedingly long and took me half an hour to write. So I'll shut up.

Hope you all have a fabulous day/weekend!

[ ck ]

EDIT:
Oh, PS: I totally think these questions are a great idea! Here are some more I thought of-

Favorite TV shows?
If you had to describe your 'style', what would it be? [just because I'm a little bit of a fashionista, and I'm curious.]
Day person or Night person?
Coffee or Tea?

And how do you guys feel about some 'challenges' or something? Just to give us something to do? I mean, I don't have any ideas, but I'm pretty much up for anything. :)

EDIT AGAIN:

And HERE'S a link to my personal journal, if you want more of my ramblings. I try to post every day. :)

It's Lysky's day at last!

Hello girlies!
It is finally Wednesday! I have been so eager to get to post my first blog in this project. It's just an awesome idea. I made myself go to bed before midnight because I knew if I stayed up I would want to write it that night when I'm way tired instead of right now, when I'll enjoy it more. Not to mention, my grammar is considerably better in the afternoon, opposed to midnight.

Anyway, I guess I should tell you about myself. My name is Alyssa, I live in Kansas with my dad. It's not too bad, I'm not in the country. It seems to me that when you say you live in Kansas people will picture wizard of oz, you know, the whole farm scene. Which really isn't true. It's total suburbia. I adore music. It is my love. My favorite band for the last several years has been The Academy is. I adore them. I've seen them three times now I think. They're lovely. A few of my other favorites include All left out, armor for sleep, Cobra starship, cute is what we aim for, four word cause, Kill Hannah, The Klaxons, Ludo, Marianas Trench, and Placebo. I love finding new music all the time as well. My music list isn't quite as impressive as Melissa's but I have 2172 songs on my ipod right now. Although I do have four cds I still need to upload. That still isn't going to push me to the 3600 mark. Anyway. I'm rambling about music. I apologize.

I'm 17 and about to go into my senior year. I have to admit, I am a little nervous about this. It's a transition period in my life and honestly I am not entirely sure where to go after this. I will probably end up going to a local college. My aim in life is to become a musician or writer, the latter being the more lifely of the two. I play violin, guitar, keyboard, sing, and I've dabbled in a few other things. I also act. Acting is so amazingly fun, but a profession I don't think I'd be able to get into.

I think I'm going to move on to the questions now.

1. Who are your heroes?
My fictional hero is Lani Garver. My real life hero is my dad. He's pulled me out of some bad situations in my life. I don't know where I would be without him. Well, I do, but I don't know what state I would be in.

2. What's your favorite pair of shoes to wear?
Slip-on vans. They're so incredibly comfortable. I've got several pairs of those.

3. What's your favorite book?
Tyler, why would you pick such a hard question?! There's sooo many! I think my absolute favorite will always be What Happened to Lani Garver by Carol Plum-Ucci. I've read it like five times, and it never looses it's charm. As soon as I finish I want to re-read because I feel like I'm missing my best friend or something. A few of the other essentials to my home library include Harry Potter, The twilight series [yum], and Some day this pain will be useful to you by Peter Cameron

4. Name something really random that you love/love to do.
Chapstick. I know it's wierd. But I have an obsession with chapstick. I wish I was kidding with you, but seriously... I have so much. I also really love making playlists like Melissa. I like making mix cds and introducing people to new music because I am a collector of beautiful sounds. I could probably rattle off 20 bands no has ever heard of that are just awesome.

So now I shall go back to reading my current book. The disreputable history of Frankie Landau-Banks by E. Lockhart [totally makes me think of Gildaroy Lockhart] If anyone has read this and has a review, let me know.

So, DFTBA girlies and I look forward to your blog tomorrow Chelsea, and of course everyone else's.

It's Charlie Day! Woot!

I.e. Tuesday for anyone that doesn't watch the five awesome guys. I'm very happy to be sharing this day with him [I'm only slightly a fan girl, I promise].

Anyways! Hi there. My name is Melissa and I'm 16 years old living in the oh so fascinating suburbs of St. Louis. I go to a even more exciting private school and will be a junior this year. Some of my favorite things include writing and music. I've been writing poems, songs and stories since I was twelve and have had a passion for music since I was eight. My favorite band is Fall Out Boy because they were the band that got me into the type of music that I am into now. Some of my favorites include Brand New, The Format, Jimmy Robbins, All Time Low, and Lights. I am also very much into everything Hayao Miyazaki. Recently I have gotten into his films [my favorites are Spirited Away and Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind] and am so excited that you guys helped me to peer pressure Tyler into it. haha. I've been trying to do it for a little while, now. Also, I really enjoy watching tennis. My favorite players are Rafael Nadal, Andy Roddick [who I've met :D], Novak Djokovic, and Marcos Baghdatis. Hmm, what else? My favorite foods are anything chinese and ice cream [more specifically, a cookie dough blizzard from Dairy Queen. Mhmm]. I'm kind of a computer nerd; I like messing around on photoshop, doing HTML, that sort of stuff. Okie dokie, well this is getting terribly uninteresting, so let's answer Tyler's questions:

1. Who are your heroes? Definetly my mom for going through everything she has.
2. What's your favorite pair of shoes to wear? This is tough! Either my plaid flats or my black and pink converse that I have had since I was in 8th grade.
3. What's your favorite book?Another toughy. Well it's either The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Diary by Chuck Palahniuk, the Uglies/Pretties/Specials series, or An Abundance of Katherines by John Green. :D But than again, I'm a little over a half way done with Twilight, and that could easily become the answer to this question when I'm done.
4. Name something really random that you love/love to do. Hmm, I love organizing my itunes collection//making new playlists and mixes for people and myself. So if you ever want one, hit me up! I've got 3600+ songs just waiting to be organized in different ways.

Oh lord, I'm a dork. haha.

Oh well, can't wait to see everyone else's! Have a good day.

edit:So I just finished Twilight, literally five minutes ago and it pretty much was amazing. I cried and smiled and all that cool stuff. So it's going on my list of favorite books; just to update everyone if they care. haha.

Yay its Monday!

Hey Girls it’s Monday! Even though it's just 1 am I got really bored so I decided to post my blog! :)

So, my name is Bengi. Pronounced Ben-gih not Ben-jeh like most people think it is. I’m fifteen and I currently live in NY. But I’m Turkish and I just moved from Belgium. My dads a diplomat so I guess we move a lot. I’m obsessed with Harry Potter, like really obsessed. My mom might have suggested for me to go to counseling but I think that’s over doing it J. I love to read and I really suggest these books: Uglies, Pretties, Specials, Extras, City of Bones and City of Ashes! I also love theater and I’m so happy that I get to live near Broadway! So far my favorite play is Women in Black which I think is only in London? But you girls should really see it if you have the chance! It’s a two man play, and it’s a scary story kind of! People in the theater were actually screaming! On a complete random subject I also love to watch movies. Classics like the Breakfast Club, but also Harry Potter, Atonement, Juno and Hayao Miyazaki movies. When I graduate high school I want to become a chemical engineer, not because I like it a lot but I’m good at Math, Chemistry and Physics so it’s pretty logical. I’d rather be an actress(theater) but my mom would kill me! So I’m going to try and do a double major in Theater and Chemical Engineering.

Now I’ll answer questions!
1.Well for heroes, my fictional hero for sure is Dumbledore. He’s just so wise I love it! And as for my real life hero, well I guess I don’t have one! Lol

2.I have too many favorite shoes! But right now I love my Havaianas flip flops.

3.Harry Potter and the half-blooded prince!

4.Eating bananas in this really weird way, that if I try to mimic it without a banana it looks really perverted but its not! Trust me!

So that was fun! Can’t wait to read your blog tomorrow Melissa!

Ok so I just relized that when I posted the blog on this site it said that it was 12! and that maybe for some of you girls it might still be Sunday but for me its Monday so yeah! Just wanted to clear things up!

The Very First Post?!

Ohh...I am so excited...but also slightly nervous...but, here we go...

Hii guys [or err girls]! I guess basically we all know who each other is, but maybe we can each sort of...introduce ourselves a bit more? Here are a few things about me:

My name is Tyler, I'm sixteen and I live in midwest America. I'm a vegetarian and somewhat of an amateur environmentalist, or at least I try to be earth-friendly. I'm learning to speak French and play the acoustic guitar. I read...a lot, books are basically my most favorite thing in the world besides people. Second to books I love music, I go to live shows pretty often and my iTunes song count just busted the 2,000 mark. I've moved around the US a bit but I'm quite content to stay where I am, at least until I graduate highschool. I plan on majoring in journalism and minoring in sociology in college. I want to travel America [like my hero Jack Kerouac], and wouldn't mind spending sometime in Europe, Asia, and Africa. I love my family and have some pretty amazing friends. I don't drink, smoke, or do drugs, not because they're all currently illegal for me, but because...to quote Thoreau, "Of all ebriosity, who does not prefer to be intoxicated by the air he breathes?". I try to keep informed/involved in social issues and such....hmmm errr what else....I love Burt's Bees chapstick and eating ramen noodles with chopsticks!

yay! hope that wasn't too long or too boring. Hopefully everyone else can write equally long things about themselves? In case you're having a bit of trouble thinking of things to say...I have a couple questions for everyone:

1. Who are your heroes?
2. What's your favorite pair of shoes to wear?
3. What's your favorite book?
4. Name something really random that you love/love to do.

Kayy well lots of lovinn, DFTBA.

PS...I'm listening to the Hairspray soundtrack right now...eeeeeesh the dorkiness. ;D
