I'm a Goofy Goober, Yeah.

As you may tell from today's blog title, I'm watching the Spongebob Squarepants Movie with my little sister.
Today is awesome because I'm going to my friend's disco-themed birthday party, and then spending the night. Yay for getting out of my house!
Today I feel random.
Photobucket
Just kinda ladada, ya know? I'm just kind of waiting around the house until 5 when I go to my friend's house. Until then, just kind of hanging out.
The weather here's been pretty bad, thanks to Tropical Storm Fay. We had a tree fall on some power lines at the end of our street the other day, but that's since been taken care of. We were in the eye of the storm most of the time, so it wasn't too bad, at least not as bad as some of the other counties a few hours from us who had flooding up to their mailboxes. We have a small body of water in our yard, but it's nothing huge.
I had my first day of school, but thanks to Fay that's all there's been so far. We don't have the block scheduling like Tyler, but we used to. We're back to the 7 periods a day. I personally think it sucks, since now there's not as much time to get things done, but at least now I have drama every day. That's always a plus.
Let's see... What else? I guess I can't really do the "Twilight vs. Harry Potter" thing, since I haven't read Twilight. I think as far as the popularity for it goes, it's a possibility that it could be like the next HP, but I don't think it'll be quite the same.
Favorite songs? I have so many!
Exploding/Reloading- Scars on Broadway
Sky Is Over- Serj Tankian
Slow Ride- Foghat (had to fit some classics in here somewhere!)
We Got Everything- Modest Mouse
Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite- The Beatles (particularly Eddie Izzard's from Across the Universe. I am in love with that scene.)
Cloudbusting!
Photobucket
And as far as my favorite ice cream goes, I'm going to have to go with two. I don't usually eat ice cream, but when I do, it's either cookie dough or the chocolatey kind with the big bits of brownies mixed up in it... yeah. Now I want some. BADLY!
I think that's it.
Also, I'd like to know, are any of you following the new scavenger hunt? Because I am. Haha x]
Last I checked we were stuck on TV. Yeah.
Okay, I'm done. I have to go before my mom yells at me for being online too much.
DFTBA, girls!

I'm Late! I'm Late! and Cloudbusting

Sorry! I know I'm late. It totally slipped my mind. But since I'm already late, I'm going to try/fail and be interesting.

Room challenge
I HAVE THIS! But I don't really have a very interesting room, so I annoted like everything with funny labels. You should see me Biology. Also, I went a little photo mad, so bear with m
e.

I really hate putting images on here, so I hope this makes up for the fact this is late :( Anyway. So to the left if my shelf of everything. I sort of annotated stuff to make it more interesting. It's really not that great. I chopped out my art materials and stuff cause I thought it was a bit pointless. You should also note I bluetack like EVERYTHING to my shelf.

My friend made me some sarcasm patches (close up on the right). You know nicotine patches? They're like that. But for sarcasm.

I made these like. Clay word things. They sit at the bottom of my shelf so they also got cut off. Basically, I'm making like a selection of words that are important to humans. They stack up (or are meant to) in a giant wall. I got more clay so more should be added in a bit. My idea was like the foundation for human beings - how each of these is needed to make a person "whole". And bricks are like a foundation, and bricks stack up ontop of each other. Get it? Like a human foundation? No? Okay ._.

On top of my shelf (which, by the way, also got cut off), I have this box full of old stuff - e.g. used cinema tickets, old christmas cards - that I got for Christmas. It says "Find Joy In Every Day" incase you can't read it. The "find" sort of disappeared

Other things I have around my room are a coloured wind
mill (Oh so cleverly selotaped to my window) and two decoration things. I don't really know why I like them, I just do.

Twilight Versus Harry Potter
I didn't like Harry Potter. I still don't, really, and don't really u
nderstand how it became so popular. You can persuade me to like it, but my view stands there. I'm pretty sure Twilight is the new Harry Potter. It's sucking up all book talk, being made into a movie, and the books are coming out like rabbits breed. Uncontrollably fast. I sort of feel that people are reading the book because they like the characters, not just because of the plot/writing.

Oh, of course I wait for the whole "You haven't read it, you can't judge it," thing, but I thought I might answer anyway.

3 Nerdy Books
All books are nerdy?
1. Collins Spanish dictionary

2. Collins French dictionary
3. Collins German dictionary

Ownage or evasion?

Today I feel...
Good.

Funniest Experience in Store
When I was little, my brother and I used t
o stick stickers on the escalator handles - the black bit that goes round. We used to find it amusing when it popped back up again. We were some awesome, retarded kids. (No, I don't do it now).

Drawing

I'm going to cry if I ever have to upload this many pictures again. CRY. Yeah, so it's like a flower thing. It's a pretty lame doodle. And it's in orange because I only had an orange pen near by, and I was like, "MERHHH."

Ice Cream

VANILLA ALL THE WAY (Which reminds me of Vanilla Ice. I just mu
mbled 'Stop. Collaborate and listen.').

Repeated songs?
"If one cannot enjoy reading a
book over and over again, thereis no use in reading it at all" ~ Oscar Wilde

"If one cannot enjoy listening to a son
g over and over again, there is no use in listening to it at all." ~ Me.

Or Ice Ice Baby. But no.

Dressing up in an Era

I am not one for fashion. I'd say 20hundreds, or so.

My Challenge: Cloudbusting

Cloudbusting is stolen from a book by Malorie Blackman (Totally awesome author of totally awesome Noughts and Crosses. Highly recommended.) Go take a picture outside and see what you see in the cloud. It doesn't have to make sense to anyone but you. I was outside earlier and there was one of a little man crossing into the jaws of a dinosaur. Shame I had no camera :(
Okay. So in mine, I see a jumping bunny rabbit. The picture on the right sort of shows it. The little squiggle is meant to read "Ear" (labelling where the ear would be).

I feel like no one outside of England understands our education system, so I'm going to start with educating you.

Primary Education (Consists of Infant + Primary)
Infant school:
Nursery (Age 3)
Reception (Age 4)
Year 1-2 (Ages 5-6
Junior school:
Years 3-6 (Ages 7-11)

Secondary
7-11 (Ages 12-16)

College/Sixth Form (Most sec. schools have a sixth form)
Upper sixth (Age 17)
Lower sixth (Age 18)

Uni for ~three years (For old people. Lovely as they are.)

We don't really have like "middle" school :l So when I say I'm starting a new school, it's like leaving slap bang in the middle. (Year 9). Oh. I feel like I should moan about private schools, being in one. Private schools, being the snobbish ones we are, can choose their own way of measuring out 'years'. Some have "First/Second/Third/Fourth etc years" and others have UIV and LIV (Upper Fourth, Year 9 and Lower Fourth, Year 8). I think that's it. I'm not sure though. My new school uses the smelly Roman numerals, so I actually have no idea what class I'm in. Go me. You are all welcome to give me advice on how to not make a fool of myself :D I've never been the "New Kid" so I would like any help. So far all I've got is "Learn where the toilets are, and you'll be okay."

A couple of days ago, I woke up at like the freaking crack of dawn (around 5am) and saw sunrise. Look at the sun's power.

I thought you might also want to see how sucky our weather is here :P

I feel like I have cheated some of you on your questions. I'm sorry :( Maybe I just wanted to boost my ego today and try be smart. If you're annoyed, I'll answer them properly later. But I hate putting images on this and it's late xD

I still have not found a stop motion program :( Disheartening, I know.

Again. Sorry for the lateness :(

Its going to be me, I know it...

Today, I feel:
Yeah...its almost 9:30. I know. I'm sorry. I'm going to be the first one to forget, I'm sure.

But in other news, I moved back to school today! I'm mostly all moved in, just got to hang stuff up on the walls and such. [At which point I will complete the room picture challenge. :)]

So yeah, I've been running around all day, moving stuff in, catching up with friends, you know the drill. Its SO good to be back, though. I was more than ready to get out of the house. Not that I don't love my family and everything...but I'm COMPLETELY over living with them. Hopefully this last summer will be the last time!
Anyways, let me check my list to make sure I don't forget anything...

Ha. So, epic fail: I haven't even done my own challenge. Because I don't have a camera that works at the moment, and I also don't have a scanner...but let me see what I have on my computer...

Oh! I have a doodle of a tattoo I'm thinking about getting:
Its 'i love you' in French, past, present, and future tense. Just a thought, I haven't decided where or anything. I used to have pictures of my sketches from my costume design on here...but I think I've since deleted them. Oh well. If you really want to see them I can probably track them down or something.
My three most obscure/nerdy books:
1) I'm pretty sure I have every book in the Dragonriders of Pern series. If you haven't read it, do. Anne Mcaffrey. Check it out.
2) My textbook from my American Jazz class. I seriously read it all the way through. And I'm keeping it forever. Its incredible.
3) Probably my copy of the Theban Plays by Sophocles. I got it my freshman year of high school when we had to read Antigone as a summer assignment, and I read all three of them. I love Greek Mythology/Drama.
Dress from any era of history:
Definitely the 40s. I adore it. The dresses, especially, and the men's suites. [Fedoras are the sexiest thing on the planet.] I LOVE it. I'd find you pictures, but I'm way too lazy right now. The 20s and 30s are VERY close seconds, though. I'd be so okay with any of those.
Songs you could listen to a million times:
This is going to be mostly jazz...
-"The Way You Look Tonight" - Frank Sinatra. Only the Frank Sinatra version, though. Or Fred Astaire.
-"Come Rain or Come Shine" - preferably Billie Holiday, but I'm not as picky about this one.
-"Stormy Weather" - again, Billie. But I've got a couple other amazing versions.
-"Get Your Way" - Jamie Cullum. Brilliance.
-"Summertime" - Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong.
-"Halfway Home" - Jason Mraz.
-"Please Don't Tell Her" - Jason Mraz.
And currently, at least -"Viva La Vida" - Coldplay.
Favorite Ice Cream Flavor:
Mint chocolate chip.
Okay...is that it? I think so. Next week I'll definitely be posting pictures/video of my decorated room and townhouse, and there'll probably be stuff on my personal blog all this week. I start class on Monday, so my posts from now on will probably sound a bit more frazzled than usual.
Anyways, sorry I'm so late today. I've been SO busy! I'm just glad I didn't forget. I don't actually have any ides for missing-your-day punishments, but I mean...I'll probably be testing them out at some point.
Guess that's it. Peace out, kids.

Boys are gross

Okay, so I lied. That is not a song title... not a song that I know anyways. So I guess I should explain. In the last four school days I have attracted way more male attention then usual. Maybe I changed? I'm not sure. But I also seemed to have attracted one of the more -ahem- promiscuous boys. I am not a fan of the 'player', which is definitely what he is. But fear not my lovely nerdfighter ladies! I have not fallen for the smooth moves of the tempter :]

What else is new Lysky?

Well! I'm glad you asked. I'm [obviously] back to school. My schedule is VERY easy. I have block scheduling. If you don't know what that is, it means that I have eight total classes but only four a day. Except for Friday when I have all of them except seminar. So my week is like:
Monday and Wednesday
1 Orchestra
3 Advanced Repatory Theatre
5 English 12
7 Photography 1

Tuesday and Thursday
2 Precal
4 This block I'm a teacher aid for a freshmen/sophomore drama class
6 Psychology 2
8 Seminar

Friday
1-7 in numerical order.
Easy no?

Doodle
I really can't draw. I can't. But I found a doodle I did over the summer while listening to the song Raining all the time by Kill Hannah.

Photobucket

I feel like:

Photobucket Getting lost

Era Clothing

60's or 80's. Love the hippie look, but the 80's had huuuge hair. I can totally do that.

Good songs:

About a girl- The academy is
Practice makes perfect- Cute is what we aim for
Hold the door- Armor for sleep
Love me dead- Ludo
Low-Marianas Trench

Decided to choose five, like the five albums.

My question of the week: What's your favorite ice cream flavor? Lame, right? But whatever.

Sorry this took so long to post. I had precalc and dinner to cook. Phew. I'm tired.

edit- My pics got a little cut off :[

Little Late, Loves

I'm sorry about that. =/ School started, my computer half crashed today, and it was Sean's birthday, so I was hellaz preoccupied today. But Tyler texted me and totally reminded me to post, so thank you, darling. :) Today, it was only a half day, but going back to school sucks majorly no matter how you spin it. Although I'm taking Creative Writing and the new teacher is sooo cool, and I'm pumped about that class. Also, my Study Hall teacher lets us listen to our ipods (almost unheard of at our school).

About the Twilight VS. HP thing. I mean, my heart will always have a special place for HP, but honestly, I think I enjoy Twilight better. No, it's not genius, world changing literature, but it's one of those books [or 4 of them, actually] that I cannot put down. I finally got my hands on Breaking Dawn and I've been devouring it. haha. I don't know, though. I mean, I love them both.

My favorite albums are [not in order, because that's waaay too hard].
1. Fall Out Boy- Take This To Your Grave
2. Brand New- Your Favorite Weapon
3. Acceptance- Phantoms
4. Jimmy Eat World- Futures
5. The Rocket Summer- Do You Feel

About the doodle/drawing thing, I would do this, but I am out of a scanner at the moment, and it's sadening me grately. Maybe I'll make something sweet in photoshop for next week, eh?

Tres Libros Nerdy [?].
Uhmm, hi, my name is Melissa and I never have money, therefore don't buy many books. Tyler will know that my quote en quote "library" is a joke. So, this challenge just makes me look like a n00b nerdfighter. Call this a fail.

Clothes from any era: Uhmm, 80's...DUH!!! I love bright colors, I love leggins, and I love obnoxious patterns. Therefore, I think the 80's are quite suitable for me. :]

So my question is, name a few songs [damn, here I go with music again] that you could listen to a million times and never get old. I guess you could consider them favorites, but you know, just those 100% made of awesome songs that have a personal meaning to them, or mean a lot to you.

Sorry this is so late again, girlies. My day has been hectic.

DFTBA
love you all. :]

Twilight VS Harry Potter

Today I feel:

I found this article on mugglenet and I was wondering what you guys think about it?

It's basicaly about Twilight VS Harry Potter. How some people are scared that Twilight is taking over by taking the movie date ( I cried when I found out HBP got pushed back to summer of 2009) and now they have twi-rock. I love what Alex Carpenter said about this!

" 'Twilight' is sort of like the 'Hannah Montana' of literature," Carpenter explained to MTV News. "If you're outside the 14-to-16-year-old age range, you might listen to it, and it might get stuck in your head, but it's not good literature. It's not really enriching your life the way 'Harry Potter' might."

My question is what do you think about this?

Top 5 Albums:
All I can think of are my musicals :)
1. Spring Awakening
2. Sweeney Todd
3. Wicked
4. Les Mis
5. Avenue Q
I do listen to normal music but I can't pick so those are my favorite musical albums (I own more but those are my favorite!)
Drawing:
Trust me, you do not want to see my attempt at drawing :) I'll save you the eye sore!
Three Nerdy Books:
Does Harry Potter count? If not.
1. Catcher in the Rye
2. City of Bones
3. Farenheit 451
Clothes from any era:
I don't even have to think about it! I love Victorian dresses :) I would LOVE to wear them in public but that'd just be too embarassing.

Sorry this is so late. I was out all day at this enrollment place and on the 25th I have to go into this test to get into Strevesent (sp?) High School which is the best public school in NYC. But the thing is the test is going to have American history and Biology but in my school we didn't do American History and we got a choice between Biology and Physics and I picked physics so basically I'm screwed for the test! =/ But after that I can aply to other schools here.
Oh and we finaly found a place, but it's going to take a while to finalize everything...

Today is awesome because...I go back to school tomorrow?

Today I feel...weird.
instead of a picture I have a video:

Ahem, now that we're past all that...
I found the vlogbrothers through the fiveawesomeguys, because Alan and Charlie talked about the vlogbrothers and nerdfighters, so I looked up nerdfighters, found the ning, then found the video. It was quite backwards I suppose. :]

Top five albums [these are not my top five artists...it's really rare to find a whole album that's just like...awesome soo yeah]
in no order: Raise the Dead by Phantom Planet, O by Tilly and the Wall, Plans by Death Cab for Cutie, Do You Feel by the Rocket Summer, and Vampire Weekend by Vampire Weekend. <3>funniest experience in a store ...hmm the only one I can remember at the moment is running around JC Penny with my friend Brittany trying to find suspenders, then finding them and trying them on, making funny voices, and laughing when an old lady walked by...

This is my drawing for now...
I drew that a while ago, but if I get time at work I'll sketch up something a little more interesting [pretty much nothing can compare to Melissa's lamp of awesome/doom].

Soo three obscure/nerdy books I own...this is sort of tough since I've just like...this past year decided I like to own books...but I guess.... The German Catastrophe: The Social and Historical Influences Which Led to the Rise and Ruin of Hitler and Germany by Friedrich Meinecke, Instant Feng Shui: The Chinese Art of Living in Harmony with Your Surroundings by Richard Craze, and I'm just gonna group the fact that I have two sets of encyclopedias into one point of nerdness [or I used to own a book with all the short stories of Franz Kafka, but I gave it to my lit teacher as a going away present lol :D ].

So basically I'm in a bit of a rush, I have to leave for work in a bit, my hair [and my uniform] are wet, and I have lit homework and school tomorrow. :/

UGHH I hate to leave it at this, but maybe I can post some more once I get home from work around 8:30pm central time.

My Question for the week:
If you could dress like any era of history [i.e. Victorian, 60's, etc] which era would you choose, and why.

Kay loves, DFTBA [like any of you really could]

PS...I'd just like to say thanks to all of you for being so awesome, I know this blog is going be the highlight of my days once school starts. <3

PPS...a kid at my school got in a huge accident on Friday night, and he's in critical condition. I don't know...if you pray, could you pray for him? if you don't pray, send good thoughts? It just scares me to think of someone who's only sixteen years old dying...ughh :/

Update:

Today is more aweosome because I had a fantastic day at work! :DDD
and I uhh have a workcrush. <3

Also...idk if anyone is gonna check this but I need an on-the-way-to-school-in-the-morning-upbeat-kind-of mix [lol] Any suggestions of happy upbeat good morning songs would be greatly appreciated. :]
