Sleep: Denied.

Hello, hello, hello. Keeping with my pattern of early Saturday morning blogs, I'm here with you all at 2:22 a.m., mostly because my boyfriend won't let me go to bed. Haha, oh well. It's probably for the best, since I'll likely not be home all day. Said boyfriend is having a going away party on the count that he's leaving for boot camp tomorrow morning, so I'll be at his house most of the day.
Anyway, to the challenges.
Bedroom challenge!
I just took a few pics of the more interesting parts of my room, really.
What we have here is my bookshelf, and it's about as haphazard as you can get. Top shelf we have a 1974 Hershey cocoa can filled with marbles, a ceramic puppy, a pine cone, papier mache (sp?) piggy, an evil Monty Python rabbit puppet thing, and some odd boxes. The rest is random books and clutter, manga, Japanese language books, etc,
Photobucket
Then there's the eastern wall of my room. Trippy poster, my Danelectro guitar (my baby<3), the infamous fedora, another trippy poster, cardboard seahorse, and a music stand. Photobucket
And the westernmost wall of the room. CD tower, my bike (yeah, I know. Weird), a plush giraffe rug meant for an infant (yeah... idk), my Daisy Rock guitar, a mirror, box for said guitar. And the window behind it all. There's some hidden crap watercolors I've done too, you can see parts of them.
Photobucket
And that's my room, mostly. Sorry that was kind of lengthy X_X I ramble late at night.
Twilight Team?
I, like Karen, am on team "has yet to read Twilight." I intend to, though. Eventually.
Pokemon?!
HA! I used to think about this all the time when I was little and watched the show religiously. I wish I remembered what I came up with...
I'd think I'd be similar to one of the evolved forms of Eevee. Something like Vaporeon. I'm a Pisces, so water is my element to start with. Dunno what my signature attack would be, since I'm not much of a fighter to start with. I'd probably conjure up a mist that surrounds the opponent, which through some kind of chemical hooplah makes them not want to fight, despite their trainer's demands, and take a nap or something. I'd probably be called Mistiry, because it sounds cool, has the word "mist" in it and is pronounced like "mystery." Yeah.
Favorite genre of book/recommendations.
This is tough, since the books I like are kind of all over the spectrum. I like young adult novels, humor, manga, fiction. What I haven't read in a while was a good suspense/thriller/horror novel. Some of my favorite books are Harry Potter (of course, lol), Series of Unfortunate Events, The Lovely Bones, Of Mice and Men, To Kill a Mockingbird, Scar Tissue, the Hitchhiker's Guide series, and most recently The Kite Runner. I'd recommend any of these, really. The Lovely Bones made me cry a few times, so I'd probably recommend this to you, Karen, since I believe you said you liked some depressing books, though I wouldn't precisely call it "depressing." But the tears will come, believe you me. It's really quite an interesting read.
Phrase of the Day?
Hm... This is tough.
I'm honestly way too exhausted to think of anything as of now... I'll do it next week, though. PROMISE!!

So, this means I get to make up a challenge now... Hmm.....
Alright. Got one.
Write a haiku about your favorite Brotherhood 2.0 video.
If you don't know, a haiku is a 3-line poem, the first like has 5 syllables, the second has 7, and the last has 5. That's basically it. So, yeah. Could be interesting, lol.

Okay, I can go to bed now. Woo! So long, and DFTBA, ladies.

EDIT: Very tired. Dunno why the font is tiny like that. Gr.

I confess.

I confess I have not read Twlight (or New Moon or Eclipse and the other books). If you want to know why, you can skip this and read the challenge thing.

My day was good - I went out for lunch with an old friend. Her birthday is four days after mine (hers on the 11th Sep, mine on the 7th), so we went present shopping. Now here's the thing about me. I am very unusual with gifts. I'm getting her three socks and a book (The Key by Marianna Curley) and she is getting me a yellow box filled with Gummy Bears.

That's pretty much all I've got today. I also got some fake wood floor in for my room. (The image isn't my room, but it's the same flooring). I'm pretty exhausted from slicing up bits of fake wood for my floor, haha.

But hey, look at this new chocolate shop that's landed in my town : http://www.montezumas.co.uk/ ! Look at all the chocolate!

I'm going to see The Dark Knight on Monday. Anyone else seen it? Lots of people are complaining that it's a 12A. Is it really that bad? So someone's eye gets gouged out. That happened in Shakespeare's King Lear! Yeah, I'm excited lol.

Here are the challenges.

Challenge 1: Tyler's Room Photograph
I don't know if you read my comment, but my room is being redone so nothing is in it apart from a computer and a bed. My life has been condensed into boxes. I will get a picture when I get furniture and have a more interesting room. But I got the floor done today so yay. We're getting there *firm nod*

Challenge 2: Benji's Twilight Teams
Neither of them, I confess. Basically, books, like everything else here, costs a bomb*. Most books are around £7 ($14), adult ones are £13. That is A LOT of money. No one really buys books over here because they're so expensive. So yeah. Like a cinema ticket is just under £6. I'm putting book buying on a hold for a sec, cause it's the Summer and I need money to go out (Sorry Bella, but The Dark Knight [and Heath Ledger] is one step above you).

To be honest, I'm not actually that keen to buy/read it, partly because everyone's made SUCH a big deal about it that I'm starting to suspect it's over rated. People love Harry Potter; I highly dislike it after the third book. People love pop music; I do not love pop music. Is Twilight the new Harry Potter? Is Stephanie Meyer taking over Fantasy Book land?

Also, I sort of know what it's about. Lots of people have sort of killed it. Or at least for me.

So no, I haven't read Twilight (and Co.). It's not a definite yes/no whether I want to. My mind is still open.

*You know how John's new book is meant to cost less? It's the same price over here. That is how expensive stuff is. Prices are going up at the moment, but house value has been going down. Sucks4us :(

[Maybe I should make it my thing - moaning about the prices in all of my entries xD]

Challenge 3: Melissa's GOTTA CATCH 'EM ALL!!! (TM)
Oh man I used to love Pokémon. But only the original ones. The new ones are just trying to be cool.
I'd make the Hugsmeister. Not a creative name, but it would be there for you whenever you needed it. It would be like Togepie (Togapee? Toe-ga-pee?). It doesn't actually do anything. It just sort of follows you around. Plus, it's uber rare.
(It's lame, I know.Shussssh).

Challenge 4: Alyssa's Book Talk
For Chelsea: Boy this is tough, haha. Classics - To Kill A Mockingbird is my personal choice. It's quite short but still oh so amazing. If you haven't read Catcher in the Rye, you can try there. It's either you hate it or love it though. I also have Silas Marner sitting on my bookshelf though. If you like crazy stuff, you can try Jostein Gaarder, I guess. I quite like his books (Sophie's World, A Christmas Story. My brother likes The Ringmaster's Daughter). Sorry I'm not that good'a'help.

My book taste: I read pretty much anything that's not totally predictable/cliché. I like books that actually have a "meaning" in them. YA or adult. I'm not a big fan of fantasy, but I some of my favourite books are. I'm okay with depressing books (I just thought I'd add that in because people are always like "Oh, but it's depressing so you probably won't like it." Maybe it's 'cause of my age? I don't know. Yeah). I'm not really sure how to describe my book taste, so I'll just list some favourites.. Uh. In no order: To Kill A Mockingbird, What Katy Did (and the others), Sarah Dessen Books, Hannah's Gift, Spot the Dog, Looking for Alaska (of course), The Sisterhood books, What's Eating Gilbert Grape, The Growing Pains of Adrian Mole, Meg Rosoff books.

I recently ordered books from Amazon - My own copy of LfA (because I like it so much haha), What I Was (Meg Rosoff), The Truth About Forever, The Perks of Being a Wallflower (LOTS of people say this is good) and Ways to Live Forever. So yay. I look forward to them next week.

Chelsea's Challenge - I couldn't find it in your post. Maybe I missed it, but I couldn't find it x_x Sorry. I'll edit this if I find it.

My Challenge - BAH, I can't think of one, haha. Um. Think of a good phrase you think we should all use. I'll post mine next week.

This is an awfully long blogpost, as per usual. Also, I'm going to Ireland some time in late August. Have any of you been?

'Kay. Must. End. Here.

ONE LAST THING. If anyone doesn't know what to write about for a blog post, can you try explaining the US's education system? I get the whole grade thing, but Sophmore? Junior? Senior? What?

And now I must get this in at 11:59. HAZZAH. (It's still Friday). (Also, a lot of challenges piled up on me too lol)

And don't be stingy, baby.

Man, sorry I've been MIA guys. Technical difficulties coupled with working on tax-free weekend makes it a little hard to keep track of things!

Okay. So here's what I've got for you kids today.

ONE: Challenges.
Man, they piled up on me!
- Okay, so for the pictures of my room, I also have an excuse. Well, not really an excuse, per se...more of a proposition. I'm living at my parents' house for the summer, but I move back to Rome in a week and a half. So I'm thinking I'll just wait until I'm in my new townhouse and I'll post pictures then. Of the whole HOUSE if you so desire. But in the meantime, there's a [really old] video on my rarely-used youtube channel of the house I lived in this past year. So you can feel free to check that out.

- Uh...pokemon name? Wow. I think I'll have to think on that and save it for next week's post. Because I've got NOTHING. Coming soon to a blog near you.

- And apparently I'm supposed to suggest a book to Lysky based on her favorite book genre? Hmm...on the YA front, I'm not too well versed. I've got a long list I'm meaning to get to. I've heard tons of great things about Scott Westerfeld's Pretties/Uglies/Specials series, and that's probably what I'm going to check out next. Of course I don't know a single nerdfighter that doesn't love Hitchhiker, if you haven't read it. And the newest David Sedaris book is HILARIOUS. I like it better than his last one.

And as far as my book tastes go...I'll pretty much read anything. I'm always a fan of classics, and I'll certainly commend you if you can suggest one I haven't read. I love crazy stuff like Hitchhiker and David Sedaris storytelling-type things. I've been all over that style lately.

TWO: Questions, etc.
I figured I'd answer my own questions, as well as the other ones that have been mentioned.

Favorite TV shows: I've recently become addicted to Psych. Its AMAZING. But also...Will & Grace, Sex and the City, Scrubs, Lost, Doctor Who, The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, Project Runway, Sheer Genious.

Style: Well, I mean, I like to think I have pretty good fashion sense, but I'm more into what I know is flattering more than absolutely sticking to what's 'in'. A lot of my inspiration comes from very classy, vintage glamour, but a bit more edgy and personalized. I can take some wardrobe pictures if you want. Ha.

Day vs Night: I'm definitely a night person. Obviously. I'm writing this at 2:30 in the morning. I'm a bit of an insomniac, really.

Coffee vs Tea: I love both, but I'm a coffee addict. Between 2-4 cups every morning. Plus, I just love the taste of it. I drink it black, usually. Although I do love Caramel Macchiatos.

Favorite Cheese: Feta is amazing. And ricotta. And I've been known to have a dinner consisting of just Brie on baguettes.

Last thing I bought: Uh...one of those Rockstar Mocha things. Its like an energy drink...but its coffee...I don't know. But its good.

Twilight: Team Edward, as far as Bella is concerned. But if I had to pick for myself...? God, I would have a seriously hard time choosing. As much as Edward feeds the hopeless romantic in me, I think Jacob would be so much more fun, and is more my type. But then again, I haven't read Breaking Dawn yet because I'm broke and can't buy it yet. But I'll keep you posted.

THREE: Movies.
So Karen suggested that I make a list of classic movie recommendations, and I am TOTALLY all over that! Here's my list of must-sees that I can think of off the top of my head. Feel free to add anything else you guys feel like everyone should see in order to be allowed to live on this earth.
In no particular order:
Casablanca
Breakfast at Tiffany's
The Graduate
The Philadelphia Story
Citizen Kane
Charade
Rear Window
The African Queen
The Maltese Falcon
Singin' in the Rain
West Side Story
A Streetcar Named Desire
Roman Holiday
Harvey
Its A Wonderful Life
An American in Paris
The Big Sleep
Bringing Up Baby
East of Eden
Rebel Without A Cause
Easy Rider
High Noon
Top Hat
Some Like It Hot
She Done Him Wrong
The Sting
North By Northwest
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
On the Waterfront
How The West Was Won
The Jazz Singer
The Godfather [all three!]
Gone With The Wind
It Happened One Night
The Lady Eve
Mr. Smith Goes To Washington
Giant
Cool Hand Luke
To Have And Have Not

Ha. Just a few of my favorites. I'm sure I'll think of more later.

I've got the gift of one liners

If you know my title/lyric, well done. For those of you who might not it's The curse of curves by Cute is what we aim for. A good song, and a good band who I'll be seeing tonight. I'm really excited! I absolutely love concerts and ciwwaf is really good live. I saw them last year. :] The only downer is the charger for my camera is lost. Which means pictures of my room are on hold. However, I do have a video of my room pre-cleaning. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LuJ2dIcdoMo here's a link to that if you really want to see my room, and of course, me being a complete dork. I think that should cover the challenge.

Next challenge: Team Edward XD Jacob is just a pain. I mean, like I said in one of my comments earlier this week, Nothing says love like molesting your friend. You know what I mean? Not a very good way to win someone's heart. I have yet to read breaking dawn. I intend to do so eventually. But I've been saving my money for the concert. So pleeeaaaassse don't give away the ending. I will be sad :[

My pokemon is Book-a-chu. It attacks with sarcasm :] It's a psychic pokemon. Which my friend Piph had to help me with. I really don't know pokemon :[ Never had any of the gameboy games of anything. I always wanted them though.

So now questions

Favortie tv show
Scrubs, House, Lost, and Steven's untitled rock show. I love Steven. :]

My style
Band t-shirts, skinny pants, crazy awesome patterns, paint splatters and sneakers. Yup. I've never really thought of this question before. So I know my answer can't be that good. Sorry.

Day or night person
Night. Seriously. I am not a morning person. I wouldn't be up right now if it weren't for evil teachers, fathers, and yappy dogs. Apparently I have to go into school on the 14th to help out on Freshmen's first day. I have nothing against the freshmen, but gooood, I just want to sleeeeeeep

Coffee or Tea
Coffee! I love it sooo much. Especially coffee flavored icecream. Yummy. Has anyone ever had a frozen cafe mocha from einsteins? It's like heaven in a cup.

Favorite Cheese
Munster. Or ramono... I think that's how you spell that. -_-; -ahem- it's still early.

What is the last thing you bought?
A slice of pizza. Which was really delicious. There's this local pizza place that has slices as big as your face. Yummy.

My challenge... I think everyone should talk about the genre they love, in books, and have the next day recommend a book to them that they might like. Obviously I can't start. So I guess it's up to you Chelsea! Sorry love.

Kay, so I like young adult, you know, John Green's books. Coming of age stories. Anything really besides mysteries. Not a fan. But I'll read whatever you suggest, I'm a total book worm.

TEAM EDWARD. :D

Goood morning girls, it's a [for me] very early 9:54am and I'm ready to blog. But first I'll answer the questions from Wednesday-Saturday.

Favorite TV shows? Gossip Girl, Project Runway, Shear Genius, Degrassi, House, Ugly Betty.
If you had to describe your 'style', what would it be? [just because I'm a little bit of a fashionista, and I'm curious.]Hmm I think I would be comfy meets scene meets girly.
Day person or Night person? That's a hard one. But I'll pick night.
Coffee or Tea? Either, yuck.
What is your favourite cheese? I love Parmesean, Gouda, and Pepperjack.
What's the last thing you bought? A monsterous sized cookie at Starbucks

Okkaaaay. So the only other question was if I'm on Team Edward or Jacob. Just as reference, I haven't read Breaking Dawn yet [it's killing me!], but so far, I am definetly, 100% team Edward. There are many reasons for this, mostly because I compare myself to Bella and the guy I'm dating to Edward, and if things didn't work out between them, that wouldn't be good for us now, huh? haha. But Edward always seemed so trusting and wanted Bella to be happy, no matter if it was with himself or Jacob. I thought that was awesome. Plus, vampires > werewolves anyday. I mean being super beautiful is better than being super hairy, I think.

And Tyler, I totally failed at your challenge today, because I was so extremely busy last night, but I promise I will have it done next week. My room is lame, as you know, but oh well.

My challenge [being a pokemon nerdfighter] is to come up with your own pokemon name and have it describe yourself [like say what type it is, the attacks, etc]. I'll do this next Tuesday. :]

Well ladies, I'm off to get ready to go to Six Flags [of course on the hottest day of the year] so...
THE END.
:]

Breaking Dawn <3

Hello girls :)So I'll start off by answering the questions!

What is your favourite cheese?
feta cheese

What's the last thing you bought?
Breaking Dawn ( Still not done though :S)

Favorite TV shows?
Will&Grace, Gossip Girl, Grey's Anatomy, Still Standing

If you had to describe your 'style'
Um really girly, lots of skirts, polo's all that jazz

Day person or Night person?
Night person

Coffee or Tea?
I like coffee but I love tea! I have an obssesion with tea actually :)

I'm on page 387 of Breaking Dawn, and I've always been on team Edward and still am! So far I think its the best out of the series but I'll have to see what I think of it when I finish. As for the challenge of taking a picture of my room, I can't do it and here are my reasons:

1. I don't have a room right now. I just moved to NY so we're subletting this one room apartment and I sleep in the living room...Not fun. But my dad is a diplomate and once him term beggins the embassy gives us a place.
2. I broke my camerea because I was playing with the lens too much.
3. I can't draw at all so that wouldn't work
4. And even if it was possible for me to draw, I don't have a scanner or anyway I could put it on the computer. I hope those reasons were good enough. If not I guess you can punish me :( But I promise to take pictures of my room once I move in!

So for my challenge, If you read the twilight series, or some of them. What team are you on? Edward or Jacob? Why? And if you haven't read twilight, why? Why do you want to read it or why don't you want to read it?

Sorry for that crappy challenge but I didn't really have enough time to think of a good one!

Sundayyy

Hii girls! Soo I seriously loved hearing about everyone this week! Everyone is kind of different from one another and that's really sweet. I'll just answer the questions real quick then get on to new things...

What is your favourite cheese?
Ohh it's a tie between smoked gouda and whole mozzarella.
Who are your heroes?
Jack Kerouac, my parents, Gandhi, Dita Von Teese, Forrest Kline, Jason Schwartzman, John Green, Hank Green, Martin Luther King Jr., and Zooey Deschanel.
What's your favorite pair of shoes to wear?
My sperry topsiders. They're insanely comfy, and super cute [at least to my eyes lol] and they're easy to dress up or down.
What's your favorite book?
On the Road by Jack Kerouac [with The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky as a close second]
Name something really random that you love/love to do.
I love October, purely for the weather and the way the air smells like smoke and leaves and everything is kind of cold but not wintery yet.
What's the last thing you bought?
BREAKING DAWN! :DDDD
Favorite TV shows?
The Office, Project Runway, Top Chef, Iron Chef, My Boys, Gossip Girl, Flight of the Conchords, The Sarah Silverman Program, House, Late Night with Conan Obrien, and Saturday Night Live [eesh I promise I don't spend ALL my time watching television...]
If you had to describe your 'style', what would it be?
Eclectic. Nerdy. Attempted artsy. I'm the sort of person who likes cardigans, scarves, jeans, sundresses, leggings, comfy shoes, and lots of layers.
Day person or Night person?
eesh. Sort of both. I like late afternoon to evening time the best.
Coffee or Tea?
I love love love coffee [basically starbucks owns me], but I also really like tea. I drink iced green tea 24/7 and hot tea when it's rainy or cold outside. :]

Alright new things! I did get Breaking Dawn [part of the Twilight series...if you haven't read them I highly suggest it]. I am currently on page 491 with about 264 pages left and it's pretty great. I was on Team Jacob during most of New Moon and Eclipse but I am officially Team Edward...I just think he has more personality now lol....NO SPOILERS :D

Besides that, school starts for me and MelissaTuesday on August 18...which is much too soon [when does everyone else start?]. I'm currently trying to find a job, which is part of the reason why this post is a bit later than usual. I also got a car!

I named it Betty Lou and I'm basically in love with herrr.

Moving on; challenges. I have a challenge for everyone... It's pretty simple, basically just take a couple pictures of your room and post 'em. If you don't have access to a camera then draw your room and post that. My camera is at my friend's house at the moment so I will complete the challenge next Sunday. Much Love, DFTBA.

PS...I have a second challenge...this challenge is that everyone should come up with a challenge this week, even if it's something really simple or something really hard. :]

PPS...I propose a new rule: Concerning challenges and new rules, either can be vetoed by a matter of a majority vote. Sound alright?

PPPS...is anyone reading Catcher in the Rye for the Blurbing Book Club, did anyone else totally love John's two most recent vlogs, is anyone else as in love with the vlogbrothers as I am? lol...
