I confess I have not read Twlight (or New Moon or Eclipse and the other books). If you want to know why, you can skip this and read the challenge thing.
My day was good - I went out for lunch with an old friend. Her birthday is four days after mine (hers on the 11th Sep, mine on the 7th), so we went present shopping. Now here's the thing about me. I am very unusual with gifts. I'm getting her three socks and a book (The Key by Marianna Curley) and she is getting me a yellow box filled with Gummy Bears.
That's pretty much all I've got today. I also got some fake wood floor in for my room. (The image isn't my room, but it's the same flooring). I'm pretty exhausted from slicing up bits of fake wood for my floor, haha.
But hey, look at this new chocolate shop that's landed in my town : http://www.montezumas.co.uk/ ! Look at all the chocolate!
I'm going to see The Dark Knight on Monday. Anyone else seen it? Lots of people are complaining that it's a 12A. Is it really that bad? So someone's eye gets gouged out. That happened in Shakespeare's King Lear! Yeah, I'm excited lol.
Here are the challenges.
Challenge 1: Tyler's Room Photograph
I don't know if you read my comment, but my room is being redone so nothing is in it apart from a computer and a bed. My life has been condensed into boxes. I will get a picture when I get furniture and have a more interesting room. But I got the floor done today so yay. We're getting there *firm nod*
Challenge 2: Benji's Twilight Teams
Neither of them, I confess. Basically, books, like everything else here, costs a bomb*. Most books are around £7 ($14), adult ones are £13. That is A LOT of money. No one really buys books over here because they're so expensive. So yeah. Like a cinema ticket is just under £6. I'm putting book buying on a hold for a sec, cause it's the Summer and I need money to go out (Sorry Bella, but The Dark Knight [and Heath Ledger] is one step above you).
To be honest, I'm not actually that keen to buy/read it, partly because everyone's made SUCH a big deal about it that I'm starting to suspect it's over rated. People love Harry Potter; I highly dislike it after the third book. People love pop music; I do not love pop music. Is Twilight the new Harry Potter? Is Stephanie Meyer taking over Fantasy Book land?
Also, I sort of know what it's about. Lots of people have sort of killed it. Or at least for me.
So no, I haven't read Twilight (and Co.). It's not a definite yes/no whether I want to. My mind is still open.
*You know how John's new book is meant to cost less? It's the same price over here. That is how expensive stuff is. Prices are going up at the moment, but house value has been going down. Sucks4us :(
[Maybe I should make it my thing - moaning about the prices in all of my entries xD]
Challenge 3: Melissa's GOTTA CATCH 'EM ALL!!! (TM)
Oh man I used to love Pokémon. But only the original ones. The new ones are just trying to be cool.
I'd make the Hugsmeister. Not a creative name, but it would be there for you whenever you needed it. It would be like Togepie (Togapee? Toe-ga-pee?). It doesn't actually do anything. It just sort of follows you around. Plus, it's uber rare.
(It's lame, I know.Shussssh).
Challenge 4: Alyssa's Book Talk
For Chelsea: Boy this is tough, haha. Classics - To Kill A Mockingbird is my personal choice. It's quite short but still oh so amazing. If you haven't read Catcher in the Rye, you can try there. It's either you hate it or love it though. I also have Silas Marner sitting on my bookshelf though. If you like crazy stuff, you can try Jostein Gaarder, I guess. I quite like his books (Sophie's World, A Christmas Story. My brother likes The Ringmaster's Daughter). Sorry I'm not that good'a'help.
My book taste: I read pretty much anything that's not totally predictable/cliché. I like books that actually have a "meaning" in them. YA or adult. I'm not a big fan of fantasy, but I some of my favourite books are. I'm okay with depressing books (I just thought I'd add that in because people are always like "Oh, but it's depressing so you probably won't like it." Maybe it's 'cause of my age? I don't know. Yeah). I'm not really sure how to describe my book taste, so I'll just list some favourites.. Uh. In no order: To Kill A Mockingbird, What Katy Did (and the others), Sarah Dessen Books, Hannah's Gift, Spot the Dog, Looking for Alaska (of course), The Sisterhood books, What's Eating Gilbert Grape, The Growing Pains of Adrian Mole, Meg Rosoff books.
I recently ordered books from Amazon - My own copy of LfA (because I like it so much haha), What I Was (Meg Rosoff), The Truth About Forever, The Perks of Being a Wallflower (LOTS of people say this is good) and Ways to Live Forever. So yay. I look forward to them next week.
Chelsea's Challenge - I couldn't find it in your post. Maybe I missed it, but I couldn't find it x_x Sorry. I'll edit this if I find it.
My Challenge - BAH, I can't think of one, haha. Um. Think of a good phrase you think we should all use. I'll post mine next week.
This is an awfully long blogpost, as per usual. Also, I'm going to Ireland some time in late August. Have any of you been?
'Kay. Must. End. Here.
ONE LAST THING. If anyone doesn't know what to write about for a blog post, can you try explaining the US's education system? I get the whole grade thing, but Sophmore? Junior? Senior? What?
And now I must get this in at 11:59. HAZZAH. (It's still Friday). (Also, a lot of challenges piled up on me too lol)

haha you finished right on time! I was worried there fore a minute.
I LOVE your pokemon. :) Togepi was one of my favorites. And yes, I agree that the new ones are so lame. Old pokemon ftw.
You really should read Twilight, though. So great. :)
lol I love your pokemon! I understand about the reluctance to read Twilight, I was the same way, but I was converted, technically they aren't the best written things but...ehh I won't go into it. lol.
Bummer about prices, I feel your pain on that as well, though I just got a job so maybe I'll be able to buy some books soon. [PAPER TOWNS!!!!!!!]
The US School System: [in midwest USA]
Starts out with kindergarten [ages 5-6], then grade school, which is grades 1 through 5. Then there is "middle school" or "junior high", which is grades 6 though 8. Then "high school" or "senior high" which is grades 9-12, freshman (9), sophmore(10), junior (11), senior (12). Once you graduate "highschool" most kids are about 18 years old. Then they can go to a college or university.
I hope that's clear-ish? It is kind of confusing...because it's not always the same in every state.
I
LOVED
The Dark Knight.
The whole reason I went to see it was for the Joker role. Heath Ledger was spectacular.
my middle school was only 7th and 8th. It varies.
