this really long...

Hello lovelies, it's been awhile...I apologize for not posting last week, but I'll update you on everything interesting.
Today I feel... hopeless, in a sort of sad/romantic/bittersweet/John Cusack kind of way.

Today is awesome because I'm listening to Ludo.

On the Disney front, I'm all for Disney movies: Alice in Wonderland, the Three Caballeros, The Aristocats, Dumbo, Pocahontas and such are so classic. TV-wise I've always been more of a Nickelodeon fan, but Even Stevens and Wizards of Waverly Place and Phineas and Ferb are pretty good...ehh Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato are adorable but please don't get me started on Miley Cyrus.... oi

My favorite childhood memory is probably just generally sitting on swings. I don't know why but when I think of my "childhood", I just see swings. I moved around a lot when I was younger so trying to think of different moments is weird because all the moments have different people in them...but all the different people are usually on swings...this is weird.

Now I feel nostalgic.

Shows I obsess over:
1. Gossip Girl...seriously...if you watch this show...text me...we'll chat
2. Project Runway [Kenley and Blane ftw]
3. The Office...I want Jim and Pam to break up...yeah...
4. Top Chef
5. The Sarah Silverman Program
6. Flight of the Conchords [JANUARY 2009!]

So...on the past two weeks...basically my life is work, school, family, friends. I like my work a lot because I love pretty much everyone I work with. My friend Kelly recently got a job there so after our disastrous work meeting yesterday she and I and another girl at my work (Amber) went to IHOP and complained about it and talked about Twilight. :] I just love how work is kind of different from school [for me at least], because I go to a private Catholic high school, a lot of the people there are really alike, but at work it's a bunch of different people from somewhat different backgrounds that I probably wouldn't even get the chance to talk to at school. :D

On the disastrous work meeting, basically it began well with people getting awards and whatnot...and then it went in a steeply downward slope with us all pretty much getting yelled at for two straight hours. Basically it was bad enough to scare me and make me want to make sure I do everything perfectly tonight. I just don't understand the need for threats. I think positive reinforcement would work much better, especially for people like me who get weird and zoned out when they get nervous.

School is going well, it's the typical "transition" period at the beginning of school. Because I have a lot of different teachers, the first month or two are usually just like getting used to the way they teach, so I'm averaging Bs at the moment. Family is weird...because we all have our own little separate lives right now...like my dad coaches football, my brother is a freshman at a different high school than me, my little brother is at a new school and he has his friends in the neighborhood, and my mom works...a lot. But we're good I guess. Friends...eesh...I seriously feel like I haven't seen any of my non-work friends in forever [outside of school]. Hopefully that will change next weekend or something...

In other news, I have officially watched every Wes Anderson movie available to the general public. ;DDDD I am in love with him as a director and I highly suggest seeing any of his films. He's only really had about six, and they're fairly easy to find.

Bottle Rocket
Rushmore Academy
The Royal Tenanbaums
The Darjeeling Limited
Hotel Chevalier [short film included in Darjeeling Limited]
The Aquatic Life with Steve Zissou

All of his films are tragic comedies. Terrible things happen, some of the main characters are idiots or jerks, but somehow it all manages to be funny with these brilliant one-liners and fantastic dialogue and superb soundtracks. I love his films because they manage to be weirdly realistic and supremely unrealistic at the same time. I don't know...you really just have to see one of them. Luke Wilson, Owen Wilson, Bill Murray, Anjelica Huston and Jason Schwartzman are in pretty much all of his films.

Ugh I could go on and on about all that brilliance...but I'll keep it almostshort.

Let's talk about books! Last week I finished The Andy Warhol Philosophy (A to B and Back Again) by Andy Warhol and the first book in the Gossip Girl series. I now have the second book of the Gossip Girl series, but I've decided to read The Stranger by Albert Camus first.

The Stranger is a French book but I have the American version (if I only I was better at French :/). It's supposed to be absurdist in style, you know the whole "life is absurd" "life has no meaning" kind of philosophy. I find it all very interesting. A lot of religious people find those without religious affiliation to be....sinful? or pessimistic? But I really can't see what's so wrong with it. Philosophies such as Existentialism and Nihilism seem really...fantastic to me. Like the Woody Allen quote "The meaning of life is that there is no meaning to life", but the thing is...people keep on living and people keep on being happy, so they live to live, they don't live to get to heaven or to avoid hell or for anyone else, they live for life itself, even if they do think life is meaningless. It seems very simple and beautiful to me...

Well...now I have to classify the contents of my purse and write a paper about it for Lit/Comp 3...I have no idea how to go about this...eeeeeeck.

CHALLENGE:
What is one philosophy that you really connect with, it can be an actual religion or anything else really [existentialism, Taoism, etc]

Alice in Wonderland is awesome, but the Cheshire cat scares me so bad.

Swings were/are such a big part of my childhood.

Your guys purses are HUGE. WOW. May I have permission to totally copy you for my day and list the contents of my bag?

Hello Kitty band aids ftw :D
